Yancey’s Technician Boot Camp is an accelerated four to six month program, working with an intact team of four total trainees with one instructor/lead man.
The program will build your technical confidence through a comprehensive program of academic and hands on training. You will gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of how things work, processes and procedures and safety requirements. A comprehensive tool set / tool box will be provided for use during the apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of the program, and two additional years of employment as a technician, the tools and tool box become yours!
You may have experience from high school automotive classes, military training, college or trade school diesel technician classes or you may have the mechanical aptitude and great work ethic that is required. All candidates that have mechanical aptitude, a great work ethic and team mentality are welcome to apply! No previous industry experience is required.
Once you are accepted into the Boot Camp program, you become a full time employee and will earn a base wage of $16.50 per hour and be eligible to receive full time employee benefits.

Heavy Equipment is a two-year specialized program for those technically minded, hands-on individuals with a desire to start a career as heavy equipment technician at Yancey Bros. Co. – The Nation’s Oldest Caterpillar Dealership.
ThinkBIG students alternate every eight weeks between South Georgia Technical College and their sponsoring Yancey Bros. Co. branch, where they put their learning into practice in paid internships. Students learn how to work with Diesel, Electronics, and Hydraulics in the classroom and then get the opportunity to put those new found skills to work in a real working environment.
Upon graduating, students earn an Associate Degree in Applied Technology, have two years of experience with Yancey Bros. Co. and could have the opportunity to immediately transfer over as a full-time employee, working in the field of their dreams.

A successful candidate would have the following attributes:
The desire or skill to work with mechanical concepts and enjoy “hands-on” challenging work in a fast paced work environment.
Good work habits – achieving acceptable grades and attendance in High School.
Have a good moral foundation.
A typical candidate may have completed “mechanical skill based” classes such as Automotive while in High School, and would have had extra-curricular activities such as sports, clubs, working on cars/trucks/ATV’s/motorcycles or a part-time job. Typical candidates would have experience working with hand tools and would know that they enjoy working with their hands and taking apart and properly putting things back together.
To be considered for the program, each candidate will go through a face to face interview, complete job specific testing and be given a tour of our Yancey Bros. Co. facility.
The Think BIG program has a limited number of spots each year and therefore students must gain a ‘sponsorship’ from one of the participating Caterpillar Dealers to attend. We will notify the candidates of our final choices prior to the school year starting in August.
Along with being chosen to represent Yancey as a student in the program, you will also be required to meet the qualifications and be accepted into the South Georgia Technical College program.
Payment for the college courses will be the sole responsibility of the student. The program does qualify for the HOPE Grant.

You will gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals, of how things work and begin to create an understanding of logical troubleshooting and the methodology of performing timely and correct repairs. The program will build your technical confidence through a comprehensive program of hands-on and academic orientated training, combined with real-time assessments in the actual shop and work settings. This will provide experience, while you work.

On the job, paid training for current and recently transitioned/transitioning military personnel.
The Military Transition Technician Program (MTTP) is designed to create a career path for former, current, and recently transitioned military personnel. The MTTP provides a structured learning program that builds the skill sets needed to become a Yancey Technician and starts a meaningful career in the Heavy Equipment Service Industry.
6 months total (4 months taught by a former military instructor & personnel and 3 months mentored on-the-job training
Tools and toolbox (valued at over $8,000) will be provided during training; yours to keep after completion of the program.
Macon, Gwinnett, Savannah, and Austell, Ga.
Housing will be provided in Austell, GA as needed, for those outside of commuting distance (50 miles).
The starting pay is $23/hr with the opportunity to earn performance bonuses once completing the program.
This program qualifies for the DOD Skillbridge military program and may qualify for the GI Bill.
The Technician Apprenticeship is a one-year program that combines practical on-the-job experience with classroom instruction. Upon successfully finishing the program, you will receive a Diesel Technology certification from Chattahoochee Technical College. The program comprises five classes and includes 2,000 hours of hands-on mentorship in our workshop. It’s important to note that this apprenticeship is officially approved by the Georgia Department of Labor.

The initial hourly wage is $18. After six months, it goes up to $20 per hour, and upon completion of the program, it further increases to $22 per hour.
The classes include electrical, hydraulic, engine, PM, and A/C which totals 144 hours of classroom training.
The Sales and Leadership Training (SaLT) Program at Yancey Brothers Co. is a dynamic, full-time opportunity designed to prepare you for a successful future in our organization. Offered twice a year with flexible start dates, this 12-week, rotation-based training program is ideal for motivated individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and lead.
As a Sales and Leadership Trainee, you’ll gain hands-on experience across our business divisions through a structured blend of in-person and computer-based training focused on sales and leadership fundamentals. Throughout the program, you’ll participate in job shadowing, on-the-job learning, and rotational assignments that expose you to multiple departments and functions within the company. You’ll also attend interactive classroom sessions and engage in leadership development activities that strengthen your skills and broaden your understanding of our organization.
From day one, you’ll be assigned a “home base assignment” where you’ll begin to build specific job skills while immersing yourself in Yancey’s culture and core values. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with team members at all levels of the company, gaining insight into their roles and responsibilities as you explore different areas of the business.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will transition full-time into your home base assignment, officially becoming a SaLT Alumni. This entry-level position is designed to be the launchpad for a long and rewarding career at Yancey Brothers.
The Sales and Leadership Training (SaLT) Program at Yancey Bros. Co. is a 12-week, full-time rotational training experience designed to develop future leaders in sales and operations. Through hands-on learning, department rotations, mentorship, and leadership development, participants gain the skills and knowledge needed to launch a successful career with one of Georgia’s most respected companies.
